Amerec Steam Generators:

I remember when I first spoke to this company many years back the thing that impressed me the initially was how professional they were over the phone. I just figured that asking questions as an interested buyer to a sales person I was going to be solicited to purchase. Not once did they go after the sale. In fact I hung up the phone after that call feeling a little awkward as this almost never happens in health equipment industries. At that time I was still coming out of being in the Infrared Sauna market which is a very different animal.

The steam from the Amerec is one of a kind. Comparing it to the other models with the same water output in a 20 minute session, the steam from Amerec has a very dry steam and there models took longer to fill up the room with steam but the steam lingered much longer even after I went in and out of the steam bath a few times. It was one of the lightest vapors I've experienced. The fluence is not as high all at once but after a few minutes of waiting the whole room feels like an ultra high fluence steamer but without the burning your noise feel from too high of a temperature.

I did a test anyone can do that is fairly accurate for testing a generator’s steam quality. What I did when first testing the Amerec steamers is bring in my waterproof stop watch and I filled up the space and recorded the humidity level then shut off the generator then calculated how long it took for the humidity to drop 10%. As long as all parameters of this test are the same this is a fantastic way to assess steam quality with various brands. Cubic feet being heated, material of walls, etc. must the same. Of course most people don’t have the resources or time to install and test multiple brands as I have done over the last many years. I have every brand laying around in my “lab”.

With Amerec there are no ups and down fluctuations in steam room temperature in any of their models that I tested. The steam consistency is on par with the SteamSpa and Thermasol generators but with slightly less latent heat index. Maybe this has to do with a little bit of the older generation design but I am still working on figuring exactly why this is.

Amerec also has commercial steam generators that I would recommend for gyms or high traffic areas where people need to get hotter in a shorter period of time. They are actually one of the strongest most reliable in these types of settings. I found my pulse started beating faster with the Amerec type fluence than most of the other steamers I've tested. This is after about 10 minutes in the steam room. I couldn’t quite figure this out since their latent heat index is not the highest out there that I have tested. I redid my heartbeat test for three days in a row just to make sure. This is another great test to do since it requires no hardware other than one’s heartbeat and counting how many beats per minute.

Raising one’s heart rate is something that naturally occurs and is greatly synergistic with an Oxygen Concentrator as the increase in circulation and heart rate combined with 97% pure oxygen is a form of Exercise with Oxygen Training that has become popular in recent years for the health benefits and results people are getting. Considering it is so passive a therapy it can be appropriate for anyone who normally does not or cannot have an active lifestyle. (only precaution is those with circulatory issues who are on certain medications).

Amerec does have a function “warm start” function which is basically their equivalent of producing instant steam in the first 30-60 seconds like other brands do. The drawback financially is that to have this function one requires purchase of a separate controller and also the small amount of water stays boiling all day. One nice thing is that this company has a very easily compatible technology for linking their generators and controllers to most SmartHome setups. One thing that did impress me was their how fast they are able to get a space to warm up to the selected temperature. It was on average about 1 minute faster.

One has to really ask themselves…Is it worth getting the extra controller to have a fast steam option? Amerec has been around a long time and certainly could have offered instant steam as a one package deal like some other brands but they realized that their customers don’t really feel it’s a major priority. Most people I know don’t need to jump in a steam room immediately once they walk through the bathroom door. Instant steam doesn’t necessarily mean the whole bath will be at the exact temperature a person sets it immediately…it just means there is some hot steam coming out immediately. Most people will wait the 3-5 minutes for reaching temperature. Amerec as I said seemed to be about a minute faster with this normal wait time. Keep in mind that in the Infrared Sauna industry people wait an average over 25

Although their latent heat index is different than say a Thermasol, Mr. Steam, or Steamspa generator, the low cluster size of their vapor fills up the room (a little slower) as less water is coming out to give it a lower micron size so the steam rooms using their generator filled up with 100% humidity even those that had higher ceilings where it normally breaks up the humidity levels (see my videos where we test the humidity with the meter at ceiling height and floor level).

The steam type from the Amerec generator is definitely unique. Put it this way, when I go into a steam room, I know before I step in wheather it’s using an Amerec brand. There is a certain signature to their steam when the steam hits your face and you take one breath and the steam hits the back of your throat and that nasal cavity feeling you get. Some people like a different fluence and many people like the type of steam Amerec provides. It’s also easy to forget that the Amerec is just a one tank design as the consistent non-stop steam performs just like a dual tank. While some of the Tier 1 companies decided to continue to change up the older generation generator designs Amerec focused on improved innovation within the more traditional design. Many of the changes in design that other brands have gone through as I have mentioned elsewhere on my site have mainly been done for marketing purposes just to appear different than the competition.
